Great videos! Short and sweet summary of the Jewish position. Thanks!
Shalom Rabbi Blumenthal,
Good day.
I posted a comment to your video “The Spiritual Context of Scripture” at the Jews for Judaism Youtube channel here https://youtu.be/EFxjp7rkSqg
My question- is God’s covenantal relationship with Israel ,which is likened to a marriage, similar to the concept of marriage in Jewish tradition which is established by a contract? If God has never divorced the Jewish people in the covenantal relationship, then why is there provisions for divorce in the Torah?
Appreciate your reply , please take your time.Thank you.
Sharon S The provision of divorce is there in recognition that humans are not God just as the provision for the death of the husband is present in human marriage

Shalom Rabbi Blumenthal,
Thank you for your reply.
To my understanding the Jewish people are commanded to follow God’s ways (Leviticus 19:2). Hence I thought a Jewish marriage should emulate the covenantal relationship between God and the Jewish people. As such I am puzzled about the provision for divorce in the Torah. That is the reasoning behind my question.
